Venture miniatures is dedicated to the design and production of 28mm miniatures that are contemporary in nature. In other words they will appear to match the style of pictorial artwork of the 18th century.

Whenever I play a wargame from a given period, I imagine what many wargamers refer to as the "feel" of the period. This idea is something which attracts us to the period in the first place: the uniform styles, tactical doctrine, technology, certain historical personages, etc.

For the Seven Years war period, I think of the entire period of the Age of Reason with its elegant parade ground theory of warfare, colorful and complex uniforms, and its grand leaders. The very manifestation of limited warfare between Monarchs administered by the landed gentry and carried out by the lowly foot soldier is central to this age. How did these people imagine themselves? That is what we mean by contemporary. Perhaps this is the most accurate way to portray history in one sense, looking into primary period art and publications to see how the contemporary culture thought of and viewed itself. This leads us to create miniatures in the style of illustrators of the age. We view the works of Morier, Baudouin, and many others as the bases of our attempts. Ranks of miniature soldiery that are elegant, formal, with thin and delicate features. We want the soldiers to be as though they themselves could be artifacts of the period, perhaps the playthings of the very offspring of our Heroic Captains in the flower of their boyhood. Perhaps the ones you are holding in your hand once graced the floor of some nursery as the patron of the house was away on campaign!
